Content Management System (CMS) and Weblog Installation Requirements
Content Management Systems and Weblogs are installed and run on a your web host's "server" (a computer where your web site's files are stored).
They cannot be installed and run on your computer.
Most web hosting companies
include the programs required (data base, mySQL, PHP, etc.) and enough space in your account to run a CMS or weblog, as a
standard part of their service. At no extra charge. Cable and phone companies generally do not offer this level of service.
Check with your web host to ensure that they meet the requirements for running a CMS &/or weblog on their servers.
Do you want a CMS or weblog added to your website, but can't because your current webhost is unable to comply? Check out
Islandnet.com. They're a reliable, friendly, customer service oriented, programmer-run, experienced, full service web hosting company based in Victoria, BC. I can highly recommend them, because they've been "hosting" my website since I started GlassOcean Web Design back in the fall 2000.
