Coffee, cafe, kaffee.
Rich in colour, steamy or cool, coffee stimulates the brain, washing away the last traces of sleep in the morning and reviving us after the dull weariness of a long day. Inside cafes and along sidewalks, friends linger at small tables, spoons idly stirring the steaming liquid long after the sugar has dissolved. Words wait respectfully, while another sip is taken, before being spoken. Whether offering a few moments reprise and a chance to pause without guilt mid-day, or anticipated as the finale of a meal, it is a relaxed moment of richness, creamy or unadorned, filling the senses with it's seductive ethereal liquid caress.
"Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh |
